Construction Heavy Equipment Operator

Seasonal or Full Time Positions Available

Construction Heavy Equipment Operator Purpose:

-To operate equipment performing construction and or repair activities of wetland and upland environmental restoration, bridges, roadways, and utility projects.

Level of Scope:

To routinely work on tasks that are diverse and complex. Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment to meet specific needs. Can perform broad or focused assignments under supervision. Relies on experience and judgment to execute and accomplish assigned tasks efficiently and safely.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

-Environmental or Civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.

-Heavy equipment preventative maintenance and operations.

Experience:

-Operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, haul trucks, wheel loaders, pumps, and small power tools.

-Performing preventative and minor maintenance of construction heavy equipment, vehicles, and small tools.

-Working remotely.

-Valid driver’s license.

-Can pass background verification and pre-employment drug screening.

Key Responsibilities:

-Consults with project staff to identify problems with proposed projects.

-Works alongside crews involved with environmental or civil construction projects.

-Builds, repairs, or remodels environmental or civil structures.

-Loads and unloads heavy equipment.

-Implements and maintains erosion and sediment control practices.

-Performs clearing and grubbing.

-Harvest, process and load whole trees, tree stems and or slash.

-Constructs and maintains water diversions.

-Surveys elevations and alignments.

-Excavates and places materials.

-Uses hydraulic powered heavy equipment for lifting and hoisting.

-Installs utilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

-Frequent bending, moving lifting, and carrying equipment and materials weighing up to 70 lbs.

-Working in isolated locations, and or along right of ways.

-Working in all weather conditions.

-Exposure to conditions requiring use of personal protective equipment.

Travel Requirements:

-Ability to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest Occasionally . Most projects are within 1.5 hours of Portland, OR.

Career Path:

Additional training, education or relevant experience, as well as business need, are required for promotion into higher level jobs.

Compensation:

Weekly paycheck.

Prevailing wages – Project specific.

Rate of pay dependent on experience.
