Job Title: PC/Mac Repair Technician & Front Desk Support (Part-Time)
Location: 1201 - Downtown Southeast Portland
About Us:
We are one of the last brick and mortar PC and laptop repair shops in Portland. We’ve been racking up hundreds of public 5-star reviews over the twelve years we’ve been around, and we're seeking a friendly, versatile and customer-focused individual to join our team as a part-time PC/Mac Repair Technician and Front Desk Support person.
Position Overview:
As a repair tech, you’ll handle hardware and software diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance for both PC and Mac systems. You’ll also be one of the friendly faces of our shop, greeting customers, answering phones, managing inquiries, and ensuring a smooth experience at the front desk.
Environment:
We’re a small shop with four full time techs currently, and it’s a very laid back and friendly environment. We’re all super supportive of each other and each of us has our own special skill set that we bring to the table and are happy to teach when time allows.
You’ll have your own workspace, but we try to rock a “communal” vibe so don’t count on being fully isolated. Our goal is to always be elevating each other by sharing knowledge and putting our heads together to accomplish challenging tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on PCs and Macs.
Perform hardware and software upgrades and other non-repair work.
Build and troubleshoot custom PCs.
Greet customers, answer calls, and respond to inquiries
Check devices in and out and handle cash and credit transactions
Log repair tickets and maintain accurate records of repairs and customer interactions.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
Experience in PC and Mac repair (certifications like CompTIA A+ or Apple Certified Technician are a plus).
Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and common software applications.
Be a proud nerd who built their own computer when they were 12.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Great communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical training is a plus).
Schedule:
Part-time (around 20 hours, morning shift) at the outset with room to grow.
Compensation:
$18/hr to start, plus a production-based bonus system.
Opportunities for skill development and growth in the IT industry.
Medical, dental, and 401k available down the road after a probationary period and a move to full-time.
How to Apply:
Please email us your resume and a short intro explaining why you’re the perfect fit for this role with the subject line “I want to work at 1201.” You can also drop off your application in person at our shop during business hours.
We’re excited to meet you and welcome you to our team!
