Job Description: Customer Service Representative/Inside Sales (Rigging Shop)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Customer Service Representative (CSR) to join our rigging shop team. The CSR will be the first point of contact for customers, handling inquiries, processing orders, providing technical product information, and ensuring a smooth customer experience. This role requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to learn the rigging industry’s products, services, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers in person, by phone, and via email in a professional and friendly manner.
Assist customers with product selection, order placement, and service requests.
Provide accurate quotes, estimates, and lead times for rigging products and services.
Enter and manage sales orders in the system; ensure accuracy in billing, shipping, and special instructions.
Work closely with shop and warehouse staff to ensure timely completion of customer orders.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of rigging equipment, hardware, slings, and safety standards.
Handle customer concerns, resolve issues promptly, and escalate when necessary.
Prepare invoices, work orders, and other documentation as required.
Support sales efforts by providing product knowledge and identifying potential upselling opportunities.
Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly service area.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent (some college or technical training preferred).
Previous experience in customer service, preferably in an industrial, rigging, or construction supply environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first attitude.
Ability to learn technical product knowledge and explain it clearly to customers.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and order entry systems.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced shop environment.
Team-oriented, with the ability to collaborate with shop staff and management.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. when assisting with products.
Comfortable working in a rigging shop environment that may include exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and materials.
