ScareGrounds PDX — Portland’s premier haunted attraction — is now hiring Security Officers for the 2025 Halloween season. We're looking for vigilant, professional, and guest-friendly individuals to help ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone visiting our scare zones, haunted houses, and midway.About the Role: As a Security Officer at ScareGrounds PDX, you’ll be responsible for monitoring the grounds, enforcing rules, and assisting both guests and staff with professionalism and authority. You’ll be the first line of defense in maintaining a secure environment during one of the busiest seasonal events in the city.Key Responsibilities: Patrol the attraction grounds to deter and respond to disruptive behavior or safety concerns. Assist with guest entry, crowd management, and queue control. Enforce park rules, including behavior, prohibited items, and access control. Monitor for medical or emergency incidents and respond according to training and protocol. Collaborate with event management, local law enforcement, and emergency services when needed. Write incident reports and document any safety concerns or violations. Provide calm and courteous customer service—even in high-stress situations. Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older. Prior experience in event security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is strongly preferred. DPSST certification (Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training) is required or must be obtained before start date. Ability to stand and walk for long periods and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during the event season (typically late September–early November).
