The Portland'5 Centers for the Arts is a leader in expert venue management, overseeing the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Keller Auditorium and Antoinette Hatfield Hall, which includes the Brunish Theatre, the Newmark Theatre and the Dolores Winningstad Theatre. Home to arts organizations such as Oregon Ballet Theatre, the Oregon Symphony and the Portland Opera, it's among the largest performing arts centers in the US.

We are seeking a Relief Facility Security Agent that will provide customer service based protection for the Portland'5 Centers for the Arts events. The Agent's primary responsibility is to protect clients and staff against trespass, vandalism, theft, fire or other potential harm and/or threat by during events. The relief security agent also serves as an Ambassador for our venues.

As the Relief Facility Security Agent you will:

Patrol assigned facility on foot.

Investigate suspicious persons or activities.

Turn lights and alarms on and off; lock/unlock areas as assigned during patrols.

Call for emergency services when required; provide all relevant information pertaining to the emergency.

Maintain incident records and any other DSS forms and logs as required.

Submit reports/documentation to Police and District Attorney's office, testifies in court when required.

Maintain radio communications with supervisor and other security agents during shifts.

Monitor closed circuit television (CCTV) and building access system according to pre-established procedures.

Use basic computer skills to operate computer to complete reports and communicate as required.

Provide medical assistance and calls for help if needed.

Assists in the evacuation of patrons and employees in emergencies to assist with making calls for emergency services as required.

Assists medical personnel by directing traffic, crowd control and securing needed equipment.

Perform assigned duties during an emergency situation.

Attributes for success:

Provide excellent customer service, and meet and deal courteously with the public.

Understanding of materials, methods, practices and equipment used in facility security services.

Able to ensure safe work practices.

Understanding of enforcement techniques for crowd control.

Administer First Aid and CPR.

Provide clear, concise written and oral findings and corrective recommendations.

Maintain operational records and prepare related reports.

Learn computer programs, including ability to document daily activities in the Daily Log

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, staff from other departments and those contacted in the course of work.

Remain calm in emergency situations while providing for patron, vendor and employee safety.

Ability to run from one area of the facility to another in an emergency situation.

Read and comprehend Fire Alarm system panel to determine location of fire.

Ability to apprehend, detain and arrest suspects.

Work evening and weekend shifts as necessary.

TO QUALIFY

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, and

One year of responsible experience in providing security for a large facility; or

We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Required the candidate selected for the position will need to pass a criminal background check prior to being hired. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude employment and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Required the candidate selected for this position will need to pass a Human Performance Evaluation (pre-hire evaluation) prior to being hired.

Required possession of Security certification and/or DPSST certification from the State of Oregon.

Required possession of Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification or the ability to obtain upon hire.

Required a Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.

COMPENSATION AND REPRESENTATION:

This variable hour, event driven positions pays $26.59 an hour.

This position is represented and non-exempt and represented by Local ILWU 28 and is classified as an Relief Facility Security Agent - VHE (click to read the full classification). Classification descriptions are typically written broadly and do not include the specific duties and responsibilities of the positions.

This position is a PT on call position. The position requires you to work (or be available) to work evenings, weekends, and some graveyard shifts.
