1. GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION

Position Name: Campus Safety Specialist

Classification: Non-Exempt, Benefited

FTE: 1.0 FTE/Full Time

Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week: 11:00am-7:00 p.m.

2. POSITION SUMMARY

This position will serve 95% of their role as a campus safety specialist, and possibly 5% of their role as a maintenance assistant if necessary This person will have specific campus safety enhancement tasks assigned daily that will include, but not be limited to: Patrols, Report Writing, Crisis Response Roles, Campus Safety Team membership, Video Surveillance Reports, Campus Safety Phone Protocols and Procedures, Emergency Drill assistance, Parking Enforcement, etc. In addition, any time maintenance tasks are needed, this person will possibly be asked to assist. Overtime and weekend work may be required if necessary.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains a safe and secure campus by regularly traveling through the campus, observing for unauthorized personnel or activities, enforcing University rules, regulations and policies, and reporting violations to the appropriate authority, checking doors and locks for proper operation, and securing and locking buildings and windows as directed. 85%

Receive visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing appropriately. Answering, screening, and forwarding incoming phone calls 10%

Have a minor role in day to day performance of preventative maintenance and handling basic building repairs if necessary 5%

5. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: High school diploma/G.E.D and valid Driver license;1+ year working in campus safety role on a college, and/or secondary school campus; Strong communication skills, Emergency/Crisis Response Planning, and/or drill experience, Able to lift 50lbs, run, walk at a brisk pace; Proficient in Office 365, TEAMS, and other software-based programs.
