Job Description:
The laboratory technician is responsible for performing a variety of tests that ensure our products meet our specifications. This position is currently offered part-time, 6 hours a day Monday – Wednesday. Work is performed in an on-site QC lab. This position reports to the QA Manager. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Testing samples of fresh herbs, powders, liquid tinctures, etc.
o Microbiological analysis
o Product weights
o Organoleptic Analysis
o Microscopy
- Submission of samples to 3rd party laboratories.
- Maintenance and calibration of basic laboratory equipment.
- Data entry related to test results and equipment performance.
- Management of the laboratory’s inventory of supplies.
- Preparation of laboratory media required for testing.
- Communication of test results to relevant departments.
- Performing signoffs on manufacturing records as appropriate.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory.
Experience and Education Required:
The ideal candidate will have basic laboratory experience in the realm of manufacturing QC or microbiological testing. An understanding of basic biological and microbiological principles is preferred. A minimum of an associates degree in a scientific field is required, however 2 years of relevant work experience could meet this requirement in leu of a degree. As this position works independently, the ideal candidate must be comfortable working without direct supervision.
Skills and Physical Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other lab instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in-person and via email.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Familiarity with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
