Technical Knowledge (Instruction and hands-on training provided for the following, the extent of which is Based On Experience (BOE):

Associate's degree in computer science or two years minimum On Job Training (OJT) in a related technical field(s), and a general (or higher) understanding of server hardware, network equipment, storage equipment, and other data center infrastructure.

Co-managing with a virtual and live team to maintain and preserve the integrity of the network and its connections, server hardware, and other related equipment within two of the cages at the data center to ensure uninterrupted normal operation.

Troubleshooting server issues, solving problems promptly, installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading the hardware equipment

Configure IP and IPMI addresses, OS installation (Linux-based), and NIC bonding (binding several physical NICs into a virtual one that presents a single visible MAC address externally.)

Possess the physical ability to lift 30 to 60 lbs., climb ladders, work on top of racks, run fiber and ethernet lines in an orderly manner, secure lines to cable trays, and label cabling according to the company's labeling scheme.

Data entry of maintenance and daily log documentation via Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, tracking and updating inventory spreadsheets, maintaining a BOM (Bill Of Materials, which lists specific information needed to order parts), and, as required, editing network topology diagrams so the entire team is current on any changes, etc.

Staying up to date with emails and responses and quickly responding to text messages in complete, adequately punctuated sentences.

The ability to work afternoon and evening shifts as our off-site/virtual team members are located in Singapore (6 PM in Portland is 9 AM the previous day in Singapore), with other team members' locations in Eastern Oregon and Southern California, who vary between virtual and on-site. The position requires the flexibility to be on-call if a rare event occurs, such as server(s) going down, network failure, or power equipment failure.

REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Proficiency in written communication skills and the ability to form and write concise, complete, and properly punctuated sentences via text messages, email, and data entry spreadsheets.

Possess the ability to be a self-starter and take the initiative in troubleshooting, quickly switching gears in an ever-changing environment, and following through to complete tasks.

Clearly communicating issues and potential solutions, exchanging ideas, working with co-workers, and following directions from other team members.

Possess the ability to take responsibility, not complain or make excuses.

Possess a strong work ethic and the desire to work in and maintain a positive, easy-going, and efficient working environment.

There is an initial trial period of three months with an expected 40 hours a week at $3500 a month to start (BOE); after the trial period, management will review and determine a salary increase based on proficiency, productivity, and the demonstration of consistent interpersonal skills and teamwork. With periodically incremental increases as proven ability persists.
