Your New Role:

Now more than ever, high quality public service journalism and storytelling are critically important. Boly:Welch Executive Search is proud to partner with Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) in this important search for their next Senior Director of Philanthropy.

As Senior Director of Philanthropy, you will lead the strategy and execution of OPB’s philanthropic initiatives, with a focus on major and principle giving, capital campaigns, and donor stewardship. Reporting to the SVP/Chief Development Officer, you’ll lead a team of seven passionate and tenured fundraising professionals – including the supervision of the lead managers of the midlevel major giving and planned giving programs, a Senior Philanthropy Officer, and an event planner – and play a key role in securing transformational gifts that advance OPB’s mission.

Driven by donor-centered relationship approach, your deep expertise in major fundraising and strategic campaign leadership will directly impact OPB’s ability to produce high quality journalism and programming that serves the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities & Duties

Develop and execute fundraising strategies that align with OPB’s strategic public service priorities, ensuring a high-quality donor experience

Lead, mentor, and develop a seasoned team managing mid-level, major, and principal giving programs for OPB and KMHD

Identify, cultivate, and steward major and principal gifts, focusing on donors making gifts of $100,000+ to support OPB’s strategic priorities

Drive principal giving and campaign initiatives, working in collaboration with the CEO, CDO, Director, Grants & Strategic Initiatives, and other leaders across the organization and external business partners

Manage a portfolio of 50+ major donors and prospects, creating and implementing tailored engagement strategies to secure optimal support

Partner with the Board of Directors and Development Committee, providing strategic guidance on fundraising priorities and supporting engagement in fundraising priorities

Uphold OPB’s core values, ensuring equity and accessibility in all philanthropic efforts

Qualifications:

7+ years of successful fundraising experience, including securing major and principal gifts for operations, special projects, and campaigns

Demonstrated success leading fundraising teams, with a track record of coaching and mentoring development professionals

Strong relationship-building and donor strategy skills, with expertise in cultivating and stewarding donors with high capacity and interest in philanthropy impact

Experience managing multi-channel fundraising initiatives, including philanthropic giving and targeted campaigns

Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence and cultural competency

Fluency in IRS non-profit compliance requirements related to charitable giving

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems (Salesforce), and project management tools

Background in budget development and revenue analysis

CFRE certification a plus
