Resident Services Specialist (full-time - 32 hours/wk), who is bilingual in English and Spanish, and experienced in offering culturally responsive services in Spanish speaking community, provides ongoing resource navigation, information, referral, advocacy, and problem-solving assistance to residents of two low-income apartment buildings in Hillsboro (address: Woodland Park Apartments, 280 SE 12th Ave, Hillsboro 97123) and in Beaverton (14902 SW Tracy Ann Ct, Beaverton 97007). Special assignments include but are not limited to creating skill-building opportunities and workshops for adults, community building events, food distribution and assistance to the property management in event coordination.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize person-centered and trauma-informed assessment to identify and prioritize residents’ needs. Support and encourage residents’ self-advocacy.
Collaborate with community partners to connect residents to food resources, energy assistance, housing assistance, medical/medication assistance, life skills classes, recovery resources and other social need resources available in the community.
Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of various benefits and community resources and assist residents with application processes.
Assist with outreach and development of new community partnerships and building of INW’s resource pool.
Facilitate and organize skill-building and self-sufficiency focused workshops for adult residents.
Offer and facilitate homework assistance clubs and educational events for residents’ children.
Collaborate with property management in creating, organization and facilitation of community building events.
Collect and process high volumes of documentation necessary to complete residents’ requests for rental and other basic needs assistance.
Complete accurate, legible and timely documentation of services delivered in accordance with resident information management standards in a program database.
Meet performance standards set forth by the Housing & Safety Net Department regarding quantity, timeliness, and quality of work. Participate in agency and funder’s mandatory training. Represent the Department at various agency and community task forces, committees, and planning groups. Accept other work tasks as assigned by the Department/Program Leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of two years of work, volunteering in social work or related field, or lived experience.
One year of experience in working with families and individuals experiencing poverty and/or homelessness, or having long term mental health, addiction/recovery,’ and/or other long-term disabilities.
Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures with the abilities to provide culturally responsive services.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work within a strength-based, trauma-informed and person-centered support service delivery model.
Ability to relate to communities of color as well as with Impact NW’s diverse community of staff and volunteers.
Confidence and resourcefulness in crisis situations, and sensitivity to clients in vulnerable circumstances.
Ability to both work independently and be self-motivated as well as willingness to work as a team member and support Impact NW’s mission.
Possession of consistent professional boundaries, good organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Possession of valid Driver License and up-to-date Vehicle Insurance Coverage.
Lived, work, or volunteer experience providing culturally responsive services in the Latino community.
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is a must.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting, extensive visual involvement.
May require some early morning, evening and/or weekend meetings.
May be exposed to angry or distraught people.
Accept and follow assignments from leadership.
Occasional change of assigned office.
Regular driving between offices and other assigned locations.
Ability to lift & move up to 50 pounds.
