Job Overview

As a nonprofit Marketing & Events Manager, the main focus is on smoothly coordinating organizational events while actively promoting the mission. This involves devising marketing strategies through channels like social media and email, with an emphasis on effective event execution. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential for crafting compelling content and ensuring the seamless coordination of a variety of events, from fundraisers to community outreach programs. The manager plays a pivotal role in connecting with donors, volunteers, and the broader community, along with skillfully orchestrating events. This dual commitment contributes to advancing the organization's mission and making a positive impact on the world.

Responsibilities:

- Develop a framework for events, including detailed project timelines, logistics, program structures, and marketing guidelines.

- Support the execution of events, including lead planning and debrief meetings.

- Manage OLSHF's digital communication tools, including online marketing, social media channels, e-newsletters, and the website.

- Craft compelling promotional materials, website content, social media posts, articles, and other communication materials.

- Oversee the creation and execution of printed marketing materials, ensuring consistency in branding.

- Measure, track, and optimize the effectiveness of communications and marketing tools.

- Ensure a consistent organizational identity across all mediums through effective messaging and branding standards.

- Manage the distribution of marketing materials and maintain digital archives of marketing assets.

- Develop and manage relationships with external partners, including graphic designers, writers/editors, and printers.

- Provide creative direction for photo shoots and video filming.

- Build and maintain relationships with relevant press and media.

- Expand business and corporate engagement through volunteer and sponsorship activities.

Qualifications & Skills

- Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities.

- Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor. Self-driven and ability to work independently.

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds.

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

- Significant social media, graphic design, and website administration experience preferred.

- Oregon and Portland area nonprofit experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

- Proven knowledge of effective marketing and communications strategies and nonprofit industry trends.

- Excellent verbal, written, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.

- Responsive with great follow‐through skills and ability to build trust and maintain constructive relationships across organizational boundaries.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, SquareSpace; some proficiency in HTML; familiarity with donor or constituent or customer management applications, such as SalesForce, a plus.

- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations, including marginalized and underserved populations.

- Ability and willingness to be an organizational representative in public and on camera.

Essential Functions

Ability to work with minimal direct supervision. Strong organizational and self-management skills. Must be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff. Very strong professionalism and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedules. Ability to multi-task and meet challenging deadlines, set priorities, and respond quickly to short notice requests. Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for long periods of time. Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. keyboarding, data entry). Respond to face-to-face and telephone inquiries. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion. Office and work from home options available.

Compensation

Earn $27-32.00/hour with employer-paid benefits: medical, dental, vision, Life, AD&D, Short & Long Term Disability, OR Paid Leave. Benefit from an employer-paid progressive retirement plan starting at 4% gross wages.
