POSITION DESCRIPTION
IHI is looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our Portland, OR based team as the Bookkeeper. This position is an integral part of our team, working closely with the Financial Controller and Executive Director in supporting the financial functions of the organization. In addition to a strong bookkeeping background, this position requires skills of collaboration, high attention to detail, organization, strong communication, ability to handle confidential information, and flexibility to assume a range of activities. The ideal candidate must be proficient in QuickBooks and skilled in Excel.
Bookkeeping duties include the following for multiple (20) companies owned and managed by IHI:
Posting monthly financial statements from each property into IHI’s Quickbooks company files
Acting as IHI’s liaison with Property Management accounting staff to communicate adjustments & corrections
Recording cash receipts and making bank deposits
Accounts Payable including vendor file maintenance, vouchering and obtaining approval of invoices, generation of checks or initiation of wires or automated payments
Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
Assist with tracking intercompany accruals and balances
Provide timely and accurate financial statements and reports
Help maintain General Leger
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Work closely with Financial Controller in maintaining General Ledgers and provide assistance & backup
Undertake other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:
Proven bookkeeping experience and proficiency with QuickBooks desktop accounting software
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, clients, outside agencies, and board members
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Proficiency using office machines, computers, internet and other office technology
Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
