Machine Shop Supervisor

Under the Shop Manager, oversee the activities of production personnel engaged in all areas of the manufacturing function. Responsible for the planning and scheduling of materials through production schedules. The Supervisor may coordinate with purchasing, production, and engineering and should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of production and scheduling work in a manufacturing setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, workplace safety regulations and company policies and procedures

Must have hands on approach and be skilled at educating, supporting and driving the production process to meet the department expectations and goals

Pro-active in communication with employees including conducting meetings and updating employees with information

Plan, develop, adjust, and maintain manufacturing requirements and shipping schedules

Analyze data and assist employees in resolving work problems

Excellent listening and communication skills

Supports production plant wide responsibilities and activities

Accountable for employee training & assessments.

Drives & supports strict adherence to Work Order Start Dates.

Supports plant wide & department goals to maximize Productivity, Delivery, Quality, and Safety.

Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.

Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available.

Anticipates needed stock.

Sets tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches

Calculates requirements including basic math and adjusting three and four-jaw chicks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.

Ensures the production plan is executed and met.

Education and/or Experience:

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
