Textile and Fashion Exhibition Public Relations Consultant

The Exhibition Public Relations Consultant is responsible for managing and enhancing the public image and visibility of our temporary exhibitions on a project basis. This role involves developing strategic communication plans, engaging with the media, and promoting exhibitions to increase visitor numbers and engagement. The consultant will collaborate with curators, artists, and organizational staff to ensure effective messaging and publicity.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies for each exhibition, tailored to target specific audiences effectively.

Craft and distribute press releases, media kits, and promotional materials.

Establish and maintain relationships with key media representatives, influencers, and cultural sector stakeholders to maximize exposure.

Organize and manage press events, including previews, tours, and interviews, coordinating with exhibition staff and artists.

Monitor media coverage and evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed.

Provide regular updates and reports to the organization on PR activities and media engagement.

Offer guidance on integrating PR efforts with digital marketing and social media campaigns to create a unified promotional approach.

Serve as the primary contact for all exhibition-related media inquiries.

Ensure all PR activities align with the exhibition’s themes and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

Proven PR campaign experience, particularly in the cultural or exhibition sector.

Established media relationships and strong communication abilities.

Experience in event organization and press engagement.

Capacity to analyze and adapt PR strategies based on media coverage.

Integration of PR with digital marketing and social media.

Effective collaboration and self-management skills.

Our Company and Team

Textile Hive is a private textile collection that preserves the rich history, intricate techniques, and stunning visual beauty of the Andrea Aranow Textile Design and Material Design Collections. Comprised of over 50,000 textiles spanning 70 countries and two centuries, Textile Hive enables a wider conversation around textiles globally through immersive physical and digital experiences. We are a small team of curators, collections specialists, and project managers who have been developing the exhibition for the past few months. We’re looking for someone who is:

Collaborative: You will work closely with the Director and Curators in iterative feedback loops.

Flexible: We’re a small team, with a lot on our plates! We’re looking for someone who has patience for some ambiguity.

Organized: You will manage your own workload, with support from the project manager. You must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and have time management skills.

Role Details

Duration: Part time, May to October (some flexibility with exact start and end date)

Location: In-person/remote flexible, preference for those who are local to Portland, OR

Compensation: $30/hour
