Part-Time Farm Manager (Christmas Tree Farm Operations)

About Us:

We are a new family farm located in McMinnville, OR looking for a skilled and experienced farm manager/worker to oversee our operations and help us get this 20 acre project off the ground.

Responsibilities:

1. Land Preparation: Clearing and preparing the land for Christmas tree cultivation, including the removal of existing vegetation, stumps, and debris.

2. Tree Planting: Overseeing the planting process, ensuring proper spacing and alignment.

3. Fertilization: Implementing fertilizer applications to promote healthy tree growth.

4. Pest and Disease Management: Implementing measures as necessary to protect tree health, monitoring for pests and diseases.

5. Pruning and Shaping: Conducting regular pruning and shaping of trees to maintain desired form and density.

6. Harvesting: Planning and executing the harvesting process.

7. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of farm activities, including planting and harvesting schedules, inventory, and expenses.

Requirements:

1. Experience: 2 years of farm management experience

2. Heavy Machinery Operation: Proficiency in operating heavy machinery such as excavator, tractors, mowers, and chainsaws

3. Land Management Skills: Strong understanding of land management principles, including soil health, irrigation, and pest control

4. Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license and transportation to get to the farm

5. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions and terrain

6. Team Player: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively as part of a growing team

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certification or training in agriculture or related field

2. Previous experience managing a Christmas tree farm

3. Excavation and grading experience
