First Congregational UCC Portland and Sanctuary Hall are looking for a part time custodian that supports building maintenance and also is available to be on site to facilitate church events and larger concerts through our venue, Sanctuary Hall.
This is a part time position, 10 to 25 hours per week, as needed. This position is responsible for basic custodial tasks, security and setup for events, and must be available for evening and weekend shifts.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain effective working relationships with congregation members, staff, ministers, community members, etc.
- Consistent and effective communication.
- Basic cleaning and operating cleaning equipment.
- Set up and tear down tables, chairs, large fencing, and any other furniture needed for events or weekly Sunday service.
- Ability to learn basic operation of church audio equipment, setting up mics, etc.
- Conduct oneself in the best interest of the church, its members, staff, and public.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have high school degree or equivalent based on education and experience.
- Must have work experience with custodial responsibility.
- Must have ability to do basic cleaning.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with teams.
- Ability to work with flexible schedule times.
Working Conditions:
- Interior facility environment with some outdoor responsibilities. Repeated standing, walking, carrying, lifting, and occasionally using a ladder. Ability to climb stairs and move about a renovated church building which has limited accessibility for someone not fully able.
