McMinnville Eye Clinic, P.C. is hiring for an Ophthalmic Assistant (bilingual Spanish preferred) for primary work at its McMinnville location. The ideal candidate will possess eye clinic or medical assisting experience, be patient-focused, and demonstrate a kind and caring personality.

The company is willing to train the right candidate by starting the career pathway as an Ophthalmic Scribe. Candidates who hold certifications as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant will start at a higher wage.

McMinnville Eye Clinic is an Ophthalmology practice with 4 MDs/Surgeons, an Optometrist, and an upscale optical shop. We maintain a high Technician/MD ratio to assure a very high quality of care, patient experience and employee satisfaction. The successful candidate will be positive, motivated and provide a high level of patient service.

The McMinnville work site is open Monday-Friday 7:30-5:00 and Saturday 8:00-12:00. Ophthalmic Assistants rotate occasional shift work at the Lincoln City Eye Clinic office. Passenger commute to the Lincoln City office is available from McMinnville in the company vehicle.

Duties include:

Record history, chief complaint, medications, etc.

Performs preliminary screening (lensometry, peripheral vision, IOP, color, etc)

Perform diagnostic testing as ordered by MD (OCT, Visual Field, Topography, IOL Master, fundus photography, etc.)

Refraction

Prepare patients for exam

Assist Ophthalmologist in exam and minor surgical procedures

Maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment

Clean/stock rooms

Scribe (record information into EMR)

Return patient phone calls

Perform other related duties

Preferred Qualities:

Medical office experience

Excellent communication skills

Previous experience with an electronic medical record

Ability to maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians and staff

Responsible employee with excellent attendance
