Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District (THPRD), Aquatics Department, is hiring multiple Program Assistant II to join our dynamic aquatics team. We are seeking community and safety-oriented individuals who want to share their passion for aquatics with community members of all ages.

Current positions are located at:

Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center (THAC): The largest of the pools at THPRD, the 50 Meter pool, at the HMT Complex. The aquatic center offers something for everyone from swim lessons, lap swim, open swim, private lessons, special events, rentals, four diving boards, and a diving platform, all year round.

Aloha Swim Center (ASC): Located across from Aloha High School, Offers a wide range of programming including lessons, private rentals, drop-in activities. Hours of operation include afternoon/evenings during the school year and throughout the day in the summer.

The schedules vary and may require working early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and/or weekend hours to meet operational needs; staff will work onsite at one or more pools to support aquatic programs.

Typical Job Functions:

Lead or assist in leading, the work activities of assigned part-time personnel, including staffing and scheduling.

Lead or assist with planning and coordination of meetings, special events and/or other programs.

Participate in providing lifeguard and swimming instruction services; responds to emergency situations and administers CPR/First Aid as appropriate; prepares and submits accident/incident reports.

Ensure that chemistry readings are completed regularly and communicate concerns to the pool operator and center supervisor.

Education and Experience

Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Program Assistant II

Three (3) years of general clerical experience, including public contact and lead work experience. Familiarity with recreational programming, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Oregon Driver License and good driving record, depending on functional area.

Current CPR and first aid certifications, depending on functional area.

Bilingual and multilingual skills are preferred.

In addition, when assigned to aquatics:

Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or equivalent

Water Safety Instructor or equivalent, preferred

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification, preferred
