Dining Room Servers

The Bay House, soon to re-open in Dayton, Oregon, is looking for two qualified, exceptional dining room servers to join our small service staff. We seek experienced and enthusiastic professionals to provide world-class guest service as we present a memorable and wonderful dining experience for our guests. The ideal candidates will have a passion for delivering attentive, professional service and have good working knowledge of food, wine, and beverages.

After 45 years on the coast in Lincoln City and at Salishan Lodge, The Bay House is moving to Dayton, in the heart of Oregon wine country. As one of only three AAA 4-Diamond award-winning restaurants in the state, we will continue our dedication to outstanding hospitality, food, and service as we endeavor to be an even better restaurant than we have ever been.

The Bay House serves dinner Wednesday-Sunday beginning at 5:00 PM, so expect 30-35 hours per week, and our goal is to serve 20-25 guests per night. We close for approximately 3 weeks each winter, usually between Thanksgiving and Christmas, though that may be adjusted based on our new location and business patterns.

Base salary is minimum wage plus gratuities, and total tip-out is 2% of gross sales. Based on our long history, gratuities average approximately 22% of sales, determined by business level and performance.

Responsibilities include:

Caring for our guests, anticipating their needs, and being always alert to them.

Knowledge of our products, menu, cooking techniques, and the ability to answer guest questions.

Knowledge of wine from the local area, the Northwest, California, and internationally. Current list features over 2000 selections and an inventory of approximately 14,000 bottles.

Ability to prepare basic cocktails (no blenders or overly complicated drinks).

Dedication to the success of the business, your fellow staff members, and yourself.

Basic pre-opening mise en place, maintaining stock levels during the shift, and outstanding cleanliness at shift’s end.

Ensure that food is produced properly and is presented on a timely basis.

Participate in service education through daily line-ups, menu meetings, and new staff training programs.

Assist the restaurant in meeting the financial targets while achieving our food, beverage, and quality service objectives.

Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all service and guest areas.

We anticipate re-opening in mid-April, so we would like to have the successful candidates on board in early April. Please forward your resume/CV to the email address listed. We hope to hear from you soon.
