Origami Catering is a Portland-based company that provides grab & go sushi and other Asian cuisine for grocery markets, schools, hospitals, and corporate dining. Our mission is to create exciting solutions with food.
We are looking for a Sushi Chef to oversee a sushi bar within the Fisher's Landing New Seasons Market. This position requires sushi making and customer service skills. This position is in Vancouver, WA not at our central kitchen.
Position: F/T Sushi Chef
Pay Range: $23-27/hour (based on experience/evaluation)
Status: 4-5 days, Wed-Sun
Shift: 7:30am-4:00pm
Job duties:
Oversee all aspects of running the sushi bar within a grocery store
Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to produce beautiful sushi and other related items
Provide incredible customer service (engage with and educate customers)
Maintain clean and organized workspaces, merchandising cases, equipment, and utensils
Place orders to our commissary kitchen
Lead the team, ensure all employees are properly handling products and using equipment in accordance with food safety guidelines and state/local regulations
Be friendly, positive, and have a team mindset
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in a commercial/restaurant kitchen
2+ years of experience making sushi
1+ year of experience of customer service/customer facing work
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
WA food worker card required (within one week from start date)
Can stand for the full shift and lift 50 lbs
Dependable, punctual, and can work with a sense of urgency
Working knowledge of MS Excel and general computer skills
Must wear non-slip shoes
