POSITION OVERVIEW: Brittan Vineyards and Brittan Consulting are currently seeking an experienced, industrious and good-humored cellar intern to join our small team for the busy harvest season (August 26-Oct 31). Located in downtown McMinnville, OR, we craft thoughtful, site-expressive Pinot noir and Chardonnay from carefully farmed, acclaimed vineyards in a modern 200T winemaking facility. We believe that great wine is made with intent, thoughtfulness and vigilance. Candidates should ideally have some experience performing cellar operations carefully and with great attention to detail; small winery experience encouraged, but not required. We take great pride in our work and also in our workplace, where there is a strong culture of community, comradery, education and personal growth. This position is an integral part of the Brittan Consulting harvest team and is involved with all aspects of harvest operations and analysis, from vineyard sampling and fruit receival to barreling down.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in all harvest activities including vineyard sampling, cap management (including manual punchdowns), additions, racking, pressing and barreling

Complete cellar work orders according to winery protocols

Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized cellar and laboratory

Assist with grape processing by setting up, sanitizing, loading, operating and cleaning the press and red processing line

Additional duties may include basic laboratory equipment operation, vineyard sampling and analysis (pH/TA/Brix) and daily brix and temps

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a physically demanding workplace preferred. One to two harvests in wine production; studies in related field preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

High level of interest and motivation for the wine industry

Ability to follow directions with great attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Highly spatial, organized and socially intelligent

Ability to adapt effectively to changing situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work irregular shifts, long hours and weekends, when required (typically 6 days/week)

Ability to lift up to 55 lbs

Ability to drag wine hoses, climb ladders and stairs and work at elevated heights

Hourly pay, overtime eligible.
