Bakery/Baking Assistant

Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation and production of shortbread cookies. Follow recipes and instructions accurately to maintain consistency and quality in our products.

Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Maintain inventory of baking supplies, ingredients, and packaging materials, alerting the manager when items need to be replenished.

Receive and organize deliveries, checking for accuracy and quality of ingredients.

Assist in loading and unloading 50lb bags of flour and other heavy items as required.

Operate and maintain baking equipment and machinery, adhering to safety guidelines and reporting any malfunctions or repairs needed.

Assist with packaging, labeling, and presentation of bakery products.

Provide exceptional customer service, answering inquiries, taking orders, and assisting customers with their bakery needs.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.

Be open to learning new baking techniques and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.

Greet customers in a warm and friendly manner, providing knowledgeable assistance and recommendations about our products.

Operate the cash register accurately, handling transactions, and maintaining proper cash handling procedures.

Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the retail space, tea room, and seating areas.

Set up and maintain the tea room for service, including preparing and arranging tables, utensils, and tea-related accessories.

Welcome and seat clients in the tea room, presenting menus, explaining offerings, and making recommendations.

Take and process orders for tea service, shortbread, and light snacks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Prepare and serve tea and accompanying items, following proper brewing techniques and maintaining quality standards.

Handle food preparation and assembly of shortbread, lite snacks, and other tea room items, following established recipes and food handling guidelines.

Clear and clean tables promptly, ensuring a tidy and inviting atmosphere for subsequent guests.

Maintain inventory of tea room supplies, including teas, shortbread, utensils, and other necessary items, notifying management of low stock.

Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and assist in tasks as needed.

Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

Weekends REQUIRED

Previous experience working in a bakery or food production setting is preferred but not required.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, including 50lb bags of flour, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.

Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Cleanliness and hygiene-conscious mindset, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Flexibility with working hours and availability to work 3 days a week, including weekends and holidays if required.

Reliable transportation to ensure punctuality.

Strong team player with the willingness to assist in different areas of the bakery as needed.

Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and passion for the baking industry.
