Our strategic health communications and social marketing work tackles some of society’s greatest challenges and drives audiences to make positive attitudinal and behavioral changes.ICF Next’s Social Marketing research team needs an experienced researcher to support the design, implementation, and data analysis for various research and evaluation projects. The team uses qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., systematic literature reviews, environmental scans, in-depth interviews, focus groups, surveys, secondary data analyses, observations, content analyses) to conduct theory-based formative, process, and summative evaluation and strategic planning projects. The team’s work ultimately guides the planning, implementation, and evaluation of national health communications and social marketing programs and activities. The team also works in research project related to energy, transportation, and DEIA.The role requires research project management skills, the ability to lead and mentor junior staff members on a variety of research tasks, and an interest in collaborating across multiple ICF teams such as design, user experience, analytics, and survey research.​As a Research Specialist , you will:

Support the implementation of research projects from start to finish, including developing a plan, selecting methods, conducting research, and creating deliverable(s) requiring minimal supervision.

Develop recruitment and data collection materials (e.g., surveys or interview guides).

Conduct sampling (e.g., develop literature review search terms and interview/survey inclusion/exclusion criteria and draw samples).

Conduct data collection (e.g., extract information from the literature review sources, facilitate interviews, or coordinate survey data collection).

Conduct data analysis (e.g., code text using software such as MaxQDA or NVivo, or analyze quantitative data in SPSS, SAS, or similar program).

Create reports and presentations (e.g., draft white papers or develop data visuals using software such as Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint).

Present research plans, updates, or findings at client meetings.

Lead purchasing, subcontracting, and consulting requisitions by obtaining and comparing vendor and consultant quotes, establishing suitable justifications, developing or modifying forms, and processing payments.

Lead research review processes (e.g., IRB or OMB approval).

Contribute to project proposals and research plans that describe project purpose, methods, and staffing and provide an estimated timeline and budget.

As a Research Specialist , you will have:Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public health, communications or social sciences and 8+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in public health, communications, or the social sciences and 4+ years of experience in social science research qualitative or mixed methods social science research.

Professional Skills

Strong verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in English.

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High level of attention to detail.

High level of comfort with learning new skills and/or working with unfamiliar topic areas, including in fields outside of public health.

Strong self-starting and self-motivation skills.

Demonstrated experience in leading tasks as well as work independently on assigned tasks.

Demonstrated experience (preferred) with: Statistical software (e.g., SAS, Stata, or SPSS) and Qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo)

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel will be required for this position (up to 10%)

Job Location(s): The preferred candidate would work remotely in either Rockville, MD, or Atlanta, GA . The pay range for this position is:$69,862.00 - $118,765.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
