The Pharmacy Technician performs clerical and technicaltasks necessary to operate a pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician collaborates with members of the pharmacy andhealth care team to promote total patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares, packages, and distributes medications prescribedby physicians
Assists pharmacists, physicians, nursing and clinical personnelwith pharmacy services
Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials ina condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients andstaff
Checks equipment, supplies, inventory and accessories on aregular basis per department protocol
Processes prescriptions, evaluates for quality and accuratepatient identification and side labeling
Greets patients, verifies patient identification andphysician orders
After pharmacists review the order for errors or potentialproblems, technicians transcribe the relevant information about the patient andthe prescribed medications into the patient’s chart
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
Assists in keeping pharmacy clean and organized
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or its equivalent certification
Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technology Program
PTCB or NPTA license preferred or as required bystate/contract
Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Maxim's Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
