Medical Billing Specialist

Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity in the local government sector based in Portland, Oregon. The role is a Medical Biller, providing essential support to our behavioral health program for school-age children. The workplace is a dynamic and collaborative environment where your skills in medical billing, coding, and data entry will be highly valued.Responsibilities: Receive and review medical claims with a high level of accuracy. Verify the accuracy of medical claims and fix any discrepancies. Apply appropriate coding to medical claims. Provide support to the behavioral health program for school-age children. Maintain a high level of data entry accuracy. Resolve customer credit inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments. Maintain accurate customer credit records. Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently. Collaborate with other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient billing process.Requirements Possess strong knowledge and experience in Medical Billing Proficiency in medical coding methodologies and related regulatory guidelines Ability to accurately perform data entry tasks Experience in handling collections, managing overdue payments, and resolving billing issues Familiarity with local government regulations and protocols concerning medical billing Excellent communication skills to coordinate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of patient accounts Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data privacy laws and guidelines Proficiency in using medical billing software and other related computer applications Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
