Position Title: Epic Database Administrator III Exemption Status: Exempt Department: Information Systems Title of Manager: IS Development Manager Supervises: Non-supervisory position Requisition: 24035 Pay and Benefits: Estimated hiring range $120,000 - $145,200 / year, 5% bonus target, full benefits. www.careoregon.org/about-us/careers/benefits Posting Notes: This role will primarily focus on SQL database development with Epic experience and/or certification General Statement of Duties This position is responsible for executing and maturing the organization’s IS database system support model (plan, design, install, and maintain) in alignment with business strategies. Primary responsibilities include leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases, as well as playing a key role in policy administration and vendor relations. Essential Position Functions Database Systems Design
Lead the design and management of highly reliable databases and database servers, including but not limited to the Microsoft environment, enterprise applications, custom built applications, data backup systems and cloud services.
Provide expertise in application systems software/hardware technology to the company and participate in and consult on projects.
Advise other IS teams on best practices for database/processes design.
Manage the maintenance of the enterprise database portfolio and inventory.
Serve as a resource to developing administrators.
Database Administration and Operations
Execute tasks related to tickets and service requests for advanced to complex database and database server activities and provide escalation support for compute tickets.
Oversee the maintenance of databases, database platforms and server software, such as database backups, index maintenance, software updates and upgrades.
Analyze business needs; partner with leaders across the organization to research and recommend solutions which balance business needs and risk mitigation.
Oversee the configuration and customization of database systems including high availability and disaster recovery.
Define, build, and review reports on databases and database servers’ performance and event anomalies; ensure internal adjustments are made and substantial gaps documented and elevated to management.
Develop and maintain appropriate database and database administration documentation, including current design and operation.
Oversee the configuration, execution, and monitoring of quality of data protection such as databases backup.
Oversee the configuration of user account access to databases as needed.
Oversee the configuration, execution, and monitoring of database replications.
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.
Standards and Policy Administration
Author and serve as subject matter expert to define requirements and standards for database selection and deployment.
Monitor and continually review existing databases systems to ensure they are designed to comply with established standards and to empower business operations.
Develop and maintain support policies and procedures.
Assist with the development and management of database security policies and systems, such as SQL server security
Lead the planning for and support of disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
Vendor Coordination and Relations
Establish and manage relations with external partners and database vendors including installation and repair of services.
Conduct product and vendor research, and present recommendations to team and/or management.
Maintain service contracts and licensing; effectively negotiate with outside parties; escalate issues as needed.

Document management and collaboration platforms, such as Office 365
Scripting language technology, such as PowerShell and T-SQL
Compute environments, such as server hardware, storage and virtualization
Microsoft server operating systems and core services, such as Active Directory
Cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services
Data protection solutions
Troubleshooting of system performance issues and root cause
Monitoring systems and best practices
Principles of system design and best practices
Knowledge of ITIL and ITSM governance concepts
Knowledge of project management practices
Expert ability to author and maintain system documentation

Required
Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering database systems solutions and related services required. Experience should include most or all of the following:
Enterprise database installation, administration and upgrade
Enterprise database infrastructure design including performance management and cost metrics
Scripting and automation
Cloud and “as a Service” offerings
Microsoft operating systems and core services
ITIL concepts and practices
Concepts of Managed Care
Project management practices
Systems integration and data flow
Preferred
Epic Cogito experience
Iris experience
Certifications: ODBA 100 and/or ODBA 200
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
Advanced-level Microsoft certifications preferred
Additional experience in related technology support and/or operational positions preferred
