Director of Business DevelopmentLocation: NationwideState/Territory:Department: GIS Project Mgmt DeptDescriptionDirector of Business DevelopmentPOWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead the sales and marketing team in our Advanced Utility Solutions (AUS) division. This position reports to the Division Manager, works closely with other AUS solutions departments, and with other sales and marketing teams across POWER. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for driving sales to increase revenues, increasing POWER’s visibility in its markets, and solidifying the company’s position as a leader in geospatial solutions, asset management, ADMS and intelligent design system implementation. AUS serves electric, gas and water utilities, municipal and local government, and communication clients.The candidate selected for this position may work remotely full time at a location other than a POWER Engineers designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.Roles and Responsibilities:Customer focused sales responsibilities:

Manage sales and marketing efforts.

Lead a team of business development and marketing professionals.

Track BD costs. Ensure reasonableness of investments.

Develop, track, and manage opportunities to closure - from lead generation / prospecting, pre-sales consulting, solution discussions, pre-sales estimates, budgetary preparation counseling, RFP pursuit, quote communication, proposal support, agreement processing, project hand-off and initial coordination. On-going customer service and client advocacy.

Communicate with potential customers / decision makers at targeted organizations. Hunt for opportunities.

Develop strong business relationships with existing and potential clients, as well as business partners.

Develop business case(s) and collaborate with technical staff to develop demonstration scenarios for Cityworks, ESRI, and related software.

Participate / attend industry trade shows, conferences, workshops, or other promotional events to network, learn, promote, or cultivate new and existing customer relationships.

Identify conferences that POWER should be represented at. Help in identifying appropriate attendees.

Identify appropriate regional industry organizations and events that POWER should be involved in. Join the selected organizations, become involved in their activities and drive POWER’s engagement.

Work to have significant networks throughout the industry as a source of market information.

Provide superior account management and maintain frequent and personal contact with existing customers to maintain strong relationships, long-term customer loyalty, and develop further potential.

Manage CRM – Dynamics CE for KPI’s and Reporting.

Market Focus Sales Responsibilities:

Review past POWER wins and losses and research competitor wins to determine adjustments to POWER’s sales approach.

Assist with pricing strategies.

Help streamline proposal drafts, contracts, collaborate on boilerplate sections and document maintenance.

Assist with the design, development and implementation of marketing strategies or campaigns that align with business targets and increase traffic.

Assist with planning and coordination of sales and marketing initiatives/activities.

Contribute innovative ideas to promote or expand AUS’ brand, solutions, and services.

Contribute to the development of a growth strategy focused on both customer satisfaction and financial gain; create business development plans and goals that align with Division objectives.

Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of products and services.

Maintain and enhance the sales and marketing team’s business and technical knowledge of AUS partner solutions (Esri, Cityworks, Intelligent Design, ADMS).

Manage and maintain key partnerships with software and solution providers.

Required Education/Experience:

BS/BA degree in business, marketing, or related degree or technology business work experience.

Direct sales and account management experience.

Experience assessing performance, collaborate on key performance indicators, research reporting, analysis, competitive intelligence acquisition, monitoring, and documentation.

Desired Education/Experience:

Experience with ESRI, Cityworks, intelligent design, and ADMS software preferred.

Knowledge of and existing relationships with electric utility customers.

Demonstrated competence in client development and client relationship management.

POWER is a fun engineering firm. That might seem contradictory to some, but it works for us!Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $170K-$185K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
