Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday Sign-on Bonus of $5,000! COMPANY OVERVIEW Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine’s largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and is comprised of over 200 physicians practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, orthopedics, pain management, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine’s hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire. POSITION SUMMARY The Athletic Trainer functions as an integral member of the orthopaedic health care team working with providers to support and enhance the patient’s orthopedic visit. Under physician supervision, provides athletic training and clinical support services in sports medicine and orthopaedic practices. May require travel to our Brunswick and Windham offices. M-F, day shift. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Completes the patient intake process by rooming the patient, taking vital signs, obtaining patient history

Provides patient education on topics such as but not limited to: injury prevention, rehabilitation wellness, pre- and post-operative education, and maximizing physical conditioning and performance

Provides prevention, emergency and first aid care with prompt triage

Provides postoperative wound and dressing care, suture, staple removal

Implements individualized therapeutic interventions, and monitors responses to therapy to ensure patient safety

Applies casting, splinting and DME/brace fitting as ordered by provider

Assists the patient with an understanding of proper fit and use of support devices as well as gait training

Works closely with the rehab and occupational therapy department to coordinate post-operative protocols and rehabilitation

Reports progress and medical changes to physician

Re-evaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure maximum patient benefit

Documents patient treatment timely and accurately in the electronic health record

Prepares for and assists with in-office procedures

Triage patient messages appropriately, whether it is resolving issues within the scope of practice or utilizing Physician or Advanced Practice Practitioner

Maintains confidentiality

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicates effectively with patients, families, providers, staff and others

Keeps abreast of current issues involving patient care or practice issues by attending and participating in department, team and practice meetings

Maintains ongoing personal and professional growth and development, maintaining required certifications/licensure

Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment

Demonstrates professionalism at all times

Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic

Is proactive in identifying, reporting and participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient safety issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Athletic Training

Current State of Maine Athletic Trainer licensure or eligible for licensure

Current BOC certification required

Current BLS required

Athletic training experience

Knowledge and education in evaluation of orthopedic injuries

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Excellent customer service skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with athletes, coaching staff, parents, physicians, and all other health and community professionals

Skill in time management, prioritizing and medical care coordination

Ability to organize and accomplish tasks, and have the flexibility to meet changing demands on daily basis

Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others

Ability to work independently and excel as part of a team

Proficient computer skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality
