Bridge City Montessori School is seeking to hire Toddler Teacher Assistants. The nation's only American Sign Language and English program for toddlers who are Deaf and hearing.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
BCMS is located within an old historic firehouse building in Portland, Oregon. What was once the garage for the fire engine is now a remodeled toddler classroom! The only Early Childhood Education Program in the nation that offers care for Deaf and hearing children using American Sign Language and English.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Toddler Teacher Assistant will help assist in implementing curriculum in a safe, healthy and nurturing classroom environment that supports each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development.
Facilitate classroom activities.
Create engaging, age-appropriate lessons while holding true to the Montessori Model.
Establish classroom management utilizing positive coaching.
Encourage and assist in positive social interactions.
Ensure safety and well-being of children at all times.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Prior experience with 0-5 year olds,
Child CPR and First Aid
Be in the Oregon Background Registry
Have Oregon Food Handlers Card
Have taken all required Early Childhood Education classes required to work in a licensed childcare
Willing to take Montessori training courses.
ASL fluency is a huge plus!
Don’t know ASL? We have in-house ASL classes and start with the vocabulary you need in the classroom. Excited to learn another language and culture? We also partner with a local Deaf owned business that will provide more ASL classes. Cost is covered by the school and goes towards your professional development.
This position requires at least 1 year of experience as a lead teacher in a licensed childcare center. Special consideration for teachers with a degree, Montessori experience and fluency in American Sign Language.
The ideal candidates would have experience working with a diverse community of children and families, Deaf/Hard of Hearing and fluent in American Sign Language, be willing to work as an active team member and be committed to creating a long-term relationship with our Bridge City Montessori School community.
