The Emerson School, a K-5 public charter school located in downtown Portland, is looking for on-call and long-term substitute teachers for the 2024-2025 school year

We are an independent, public charter school operating in the Portland Public School District. Persons of color and members of other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

REQUIRED CREDENTIAL: Current TSPC license REQUIRED. Transitional licenses or out of state licenses are not acceptable.

The position serves as substitute classroom teacher in a blended K/1, 2nd/3rd, or 4th/5th grade classroom, creating a flexible program favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability and the school’s stated curriculum. The Substitute Teacher will follow the Project Approach and other school curriculum in alignment with Oregon content standards and benchmarks, and will maintain classroom community through Positive Discipline in the Classroom techniques as defined by the school’s charter. Benefits include parking reimbursement and participation in PERS for qualified applicants.

Daily Rate: $225.00/day or $30.00/hour for partial days

Substitute educators who work 10 or more days in an assignment are eligible for an extended daily rate: $276.80
