Position Title: Instructional Assistant

Department: Social Emotional Learning Schools

Location: Levi Anderson Learning Center - Beaverton

Reports To: Principal

Compensation: Classified Salary Schedule - Range C

$21.02 - $25.13 per hour; DOE

Bargaining Unit: OSEA

FTE: 0.9375 FTE - 37.5 hours per week

General Description:

This position carries out program activities as planned and scheduled by licensed personnel and

provides instruction to individual and small groups of students, as advised by the licensed staff,

with a focus on supporting Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and Individualized Family

Service Plans (IFSP). This position supervises student safety and behavior in various settings.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the

knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to

enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. High School Diploma or GED

2. Ability to lift students from a wheelchair to the floor and back and on and off of a

changing table.

3. Child Care Central Background Registry Clearance (applicable for all employees assigned

to Early Learning positions/worksites).

4. A valid driver’s license

5. Ability to speak Spanish, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

1. Certificates as determined by the District, including a CPR certificate and instruction in

blood borne pathogens. Other training as required by the District.

2. Proficient in the use of computer and internet based applications, including but not

limited to email, internet software, Google Suites, and word processing (MS Word).

Essential functions: Include the following. Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.

A. Prepare instructional materials under direction of licensed teacher.

B. Provide instruction under the direction of licensed teacher.

C. Assist teacher in working with students to complete assignments.

D. Assist teacher in grading and recording students' assignments.

E. Take and maintains data as needed and required by licensed teacher.

F. Assist students with restroom needs as advised.

G. Maintain students' safety and monitors appropriate behavior at recess, in class and

during bus loading and unloading. Notes discipline issues and completes accurate

paperwork for reporting such incidents.

H. Participate in restraint training as required.

I. Maintain confidentiality.

J. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

K. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and customers at all

organizational levels.

L. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be

assigned.

A. Wash and dry children's clothing as needed.

B. Wash dishes and toys as advised.

C. Sanitize desks, tables, straws, oral motor equipment and other items as advised.

D. Arrange classroom furniture as advised.
