Diesel Truck Parts Inventory Manager- (Eugene/Springfield) - Day Shift (Truck Depot)

Morris O. Nelson & Sons Trucking is seeking a dedicated and experienced Diesel Truck Parts Inventory Manager to join our team. The position will consist of managing inventory, overseeing parts procurement, coordinating with mechanics, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Nelson will be celebrating its 57th year in 2024 as a privately-owned family business.

The Diesel Truck Parts Inventory Manager will be responsible for overseeing the parts department, ensuring the availability and timely delivery of parts for diesel trucks and commercial vehicles. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and leadership skills to manage inventory, negotiate with suppliers, and coordinate with the service team to meet customer needs effectively.

Responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:

– Inventory Management: Oversee the ordering, stocking, and inventory control of parts for diesel trucks and commercial vehicles. Manage, maintain, and report accurate inventory counts. Audit discrepancies, locate errors, and problem solve.

– Supplier Relations: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules. Research and order parts from vendors.

– Customer Service: Assist service technicians in identifying and locating the required parts, providing expert advice and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Pull parts from inventory for in-house mechanics and distribute incoming special ordered parts.

– Order Processing: Manage the parts ordering process, including issuing purchase orders (POs), receiving, invoicing, and checking in parts to restock inventory.

– Budget Management: Develop and manage the parts department budget, monitoring expenses and ensuring the department is well run.

– Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, parts usage, daily work orders, and supplier transactions.

– Safety Compliance: Ensure that the parts department complies with all safety regulations and company policies. Recognize and report conditions that create an unsafe work environment.

– Daily Operations: Check inventory daily and order from vendors as needed. Pick up parts from vendors for mechanics. Maintain good communication with shop personnel and the Finance Department.

Qualifications:

– Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in parts management, preferably in a diesel truck or heavy-duty vehicle environment.

– Strong knowledge of diesel truck parts and commercial vehicle components, including engines and parts pertaining to Kenworth (PACCAR), Cummins, and CAT.

– Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

– High school diploma or equivalent.

– Demonstrated ability to learn and grow in the position.

– Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

– Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

– Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

– Excellent customer service skills.

– Strong work ethic.

– Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

– Regular, dependable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

– Responsible for recognizing and reporting conditions that create an unsafe work environment.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing or walking. Regularly lift and /or move up to +25lbs. with assistance.

Pay: Based on Experience (BOE)
