Associate Project Manager – Restaurants, Financial and Retail Focus

The Associate Project Manager (APM) is a key team member responsible for supporting and coordinating the planning, execution, and closeout of commercial construction projects. This role bridges the gap between Project Engineers and Project Managers, combining technical site responsibilities with early leadership and management duties. The APM works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Subcontractors, and Clients to ensure that projects meet budget, schedule, quality, and safety objectives.

The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' general contractor experience specifically with ground up projects such as restaurants, retail, and experience with free standing financial institutions is helpful. The goal is to have this individual to become a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing overall success of assigned projects (plans verifications, send “notice to proceed” award to subs, planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution).

Manage submittals, tracking and monitoring throughout the bidding, and contract phase.

Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensure compliance with design specifications, and resolve technical issues.

With Project Manager oversight, focus on overall construction effort to ensure that projects are constructed in accordance with design, established budget, ensuring profit margin, recommend cost reduction initiative while maintaining quality and productivity, focus on schedule efficiency, and individual Subcontractors' Scopes of Work.

With Project Manager oversight, develop project schedules, maintain strong project documentation/reports, accurate project progress, and manage the change orders process as needed, and partner with Accounting Team to ensure accurate invoicing.

Oversight of superintends daily logs (including safety logs), reports, submittals, sub lists, subcontracts, schedules, change orders, material procurement, logistics, as-builts, and closeout procedures

Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, building codes, meeting quality standards, and other applicable standards.

Communicate regularly with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, clients, and consultants, to provide updates on project status and address any issues or concerns.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma (or equivalent); a college degree in building science, construction management, or engineering is preferred. A relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.

You have a minimum of 3 years in the commercial construction industry, in the general contractor companies.

Ideal candidates will have experience in fast food, fine dining, multi-family, commercial, tenant improvement, and/or industrial.

You are knowledgeable in computer programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Building Connected, Procore, Smartsheet, PlanGrid, and Viewpoint.

A positive team player who is skilled in communication (both verbal and written), thinks about efficiency and organization, has good math skills, and multi-tasking skills.

Strong ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
