To learn more go to www.sahpendleton.orgWhile you’re busy impacting the healthcare industry, we’ll take care of you with benefits that may include health/dental/vision, FSA, matching retirement plans, paid vacation, adoption assistance, annual bonus eligibility, and more!ResponsibilitiesJob Summary:Primary function of position provides ongoing observation either through in person or through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factor and high risk patient fall risk, and monitors patients for signs of detrition, agitation, impulsiveness and/or attempts to get of bed/chair unassisted, for pulling on lines, tubes or other medical devices and for vomiting in patients wearing C-pap or Bi-pap masks. Work also includes establishing/maintaining effective communication channels with bedside direct patient care staff, reporting potentially dangerous changes in patient behavior, and escalating communications as necessary using established protocols and best judgment.Essential Functions:Sitter Duties:
Must maintain visible contact with the patient at all times
Promptly communicates all patient requests to assigned staff
Documents utensils into and out of patient room
Observes the client for general physical, emotional, and mental conditions and reports all changes in condition
Maintains a clean and safe environment.
Provide diversional activities as designated by an assigned staff
Remote Monitoring Duties:
Provides ongoing observation through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factors and high risk fall risk patients.
Ensures pertinent patient data is brought to the attention of appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Notifies the appropriate staff nurse immediately if a change in patient activity occurs.
Receives report for the Sitter/Monitor staff on the previous shift and gives an accurate report to the oncoming
Sitter/Monitor.
Identifies and immediately reacts appropriately to all life-threatening patient actions.
QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:
Any combination of related education and experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities to perform the duties of the position
Required Licensure and Certifications:
Current Oregon State Nursing Assistant Certification preferred
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the function and use of the streaming video monitoring equipment.
Ability to learn to access multiple video observation platforms, access EMRs through separate hospital portals and understand hospital-specific workflow protocols.
Ability to maintain constant observation of assigned patient rooms and to identify circumstances needing timely intervention/assistance of on-site healthcare staff.
Ability to understand and follow established protocols/procedures applicable to the assigned hospital in a timely and compliant manner.
Ability to document observations and actions taken in a timely and accurate manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships as required by the duties of the position.
