TITLE: Transportation Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY: This position serves as coordinator for and supervisor of all District transportation services and programs. This position also provides instruction and training for newly hired staff and ensures that all District-owned vehicles/buses are maintained and in proper working order.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma, or equivalent. Three years of experience with knowledge of transportation issues, mechanical methods, and the use of repair equipment.

2. Oregon Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsement.

3. Criminal history clearance (background and HB 2062).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

4. Spanish language skills.

5. Oregon Behind the Wheel Instructor’s Trainer certificate, Core Instructor and Core Refresher certificate, and Third Party Tester certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides leadership to all transportation department, including hiring staff, evaluating staff, providing training, investigating complaints, resolving transportation employee conflict, etc.

2. Maintains working knowledge of all laws, procedures, and regulations governing school bus drivers and student transportation.

3. Creates and schedules all bus routes, including driver schedules, using routing software.

4. Develops the transportation department budget and approves/monitors all expenditures.

5. Works with the Superintendent to make necessary schedule and/or route changes due to adverse weather conditions/emergency situations.

6. Provides required training and tests for coaches and chaperones needing certification to drive District activity vehicles.

7. Facilitates ride-alongs and observes drivers to ensure that all safety rules and regulations are being followed.

8. Assists and provides guidance regarding student behavior management and consults with school leadership to resolve issues.

9. Schedules and supervises all District vehicle maintenance and repairs.

10. Reviews and downloads bus videos to District secured drive for school leadership viewing.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 258 day work agreement at 1.0 FTE (12 months a year, 40 hours per week). Based on current Confidential Work Agreement, salary ($68958.50 - $90507.65 annual salary) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance and Oregon state retirement.
