Food Expeditor
We are looking for a competent Food Expeditor to help maintain a smooth workflow and keep a steady line of communication between the kitchen and the dining room. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out with efficiency and to help enhance our quality and reputation.

Being a Bilingual is not a must but is highly desirable. The Food Expeditor handles all dishes exiting the kitchen and is a critical link between the Culinary and the Service teams. They ensure that every order is prepared accurately, plated beautifully, and delivered to guests promptly. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, and at times, high-pressure environment. Additionally, someone that can cross train as a server and be comfortable with customer-facing roles is a must.
Essential Functions
While on shift, is responsible for the following:
Order Coordination
o Monitor and coordinate incoming orders through the POS system, ensuring each component of multi-course meals is prepared and delivered simultaneously, including takeout orders.
Quality Assurance
o Visually inspect each dish for accuracy in ingredients, portion size, presentation, and temperature before it leaves the kitchen. Each dish must be up to the high standards of the Local Ocean brand.
o Immediately bring to the Culinary Lead’s attention any discrepancies or issues with food orders.
Communication
o Serve as the primary point of contact between the kitchen and service team staff, facilitating clear and efficient communication.
o Communicate any special requests, dietary restrictions, or modifications to the Culinary Team accurately.
o Provide real-time updates to servers on the status of their orders.
Efficiency Management
o Maintain an organized workflow to manage multiple orders simultaneously without compromising quality.
o Anticipate potential delays or bottlenecks and proactively address them to ensure seamless service.
o Implement and follow best practices for expediting to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.
Team Support
o Assist the kitchen team with plating, garnishing, and final preparation of dishes as needed.
o Ensure that all necessary utensils, garnishes, and accompaniments are readily available and correctly utilized.
o Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
Problem Solving
o Quickly and effectively resolve any issues or discrepancies with orders to maintain guest satisfaction.
o Work collaboratively with the kitchen and service staff to troubleshoot and prevent recurring issues.
Expectations:
Effective communication with English- and Spanish-speaking coworkers
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Efficiency in a fast-paced environment and multitasking ability
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Proven experience in a high-volume restaurant setting
Current Food Handler’s card
Reliable transportation
Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 25 lb. Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects at a variety of levels

Pay Range: Hourly, $17-$20 or DOE
