The Role:
As Executive Chef, you’ll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, culinary team leadership, inventory and food cost management, and upholding our rigorous quality and sustainability standards. You’ll work in close collaboration with the CEO, GM, and Kitchen Manager to ensure smooth operations and foster a positive, purpose-driven kitchen culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the culinary team across hot/cold lines, expo, prep, dishwashing, and fillet stations
Develop innovative menus and specials aligned with Local Ocean’s mission of sustainability and seasonality
Ensure consistent excellence in food quality, taste, presentation, and kitchen operations
Manage food costs, inventory, and labor in collaboration with leadership
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Be an active, hands-on leader during service, particularly during peak volume times
Collaborate on strategic purchasing decisions with a focus on supporting the local fishing fleet
Champion an inclusive, employee-driven workplace culture
Who You Are:
A passionate culinary leader with a minimum of 3 years in an Executive Chef role
Experienced in menu development, recipe costing, and kitchen operations management
Bilingual (Spanish/English) or able to collaborate effectively in a bilingual environment
Strong communicator and team-builder with a “lead by example” approach
Calm under pressure, organized, and adept at problem-solving
Tech-comfortable (POS systems, recipe costing, basic inventory software)
Holds a current Food Handler’s card
Reliable transportation
