PURPOSE OF POSITION:The Production Planner is responsible for total production planning to ensure adherence to customer and program delivery requirements. Attainment of planning objectives where products and/or production processes are new or manufacturing processes are variable. Provide input to management regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, backlogs, etc.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as program liaison between Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Manager

Works with Engineering and related areas to develop tools and procedures to maximize facility and equipment utilization

Work closely with Buyers, manufacturing personnel (including Production Manager and Supervisor) and Manufacturing Engineers to change and/or reschedule work orders as necessary with regard to manufacturing capacity, machines and material restrictions

Establish and maintain a comprehensive material status; shortage identification and resolution

Release the proper documentation in a timely manner to ensure adherence to production schedules and customers’ requirements

Participate in MRB and ECO activities analyzing engineering changes for impact on cost, material and production requirements

Perform root cause problem analysis and resolution

Utilize MRP and DBS tools to analyze consumption trends, plan complex and long-lead items, and establish kanban sizing and set up when appropriate

Knowledge of status for supplier deliveries to ensure adherence to production requirements

Identify candidates for lead-time reduction through Make verse Buy decisions

Participate in DBS activities

Perform related duties as assigned

Interact with staff at all levels, and with groups of wide social, cultural, and educational diversity

Position reports to Director of Materials/Strategic Sourcing or designee

Internal Relationships:Exist with Purchasing , Production, Receiving, Receiving Inspection, Shipping, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Contracts Administration, Accounts Payable and Management Staff. BACKGROUND AND SKILLS:

Bachelor degree required

1-2 years of planning, scheduling and coordinating of materials/production operations experience, preferably with electronic components and/or parts.

Understanding of manufacturing systems

Strong PC literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and an integrated database

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
