WBCP is an Executive Recruiting and Human Resources consultancy firm that specializes in recruiting for public sector, niche private companies, and non-profit organizations. We are looking for a versatile writer capable of handling diverse tasks and projects with ease. The ideal candidate has experience in technical copywriting and content writing. A background in project management is also helpful, as this role requires exceptional skills in organization and prioritization.

This professional Copywriter will primarily focus on writing Job Brochures for our clients. This requires strong attention to detail and an enthusiasm for technical writing – ensuring that details of our clients’ job recruitments are captured accurately, and convey the culture and needs of their organization. While copywriting is the primary focus of this role, they will also assist in other tasks such as proposal writing, updating staff bios, crafting language for conference materials, and more. This position involves performing writing duties as needed to support WBCP’s marketing and communication efforts. There will be opportunities to write scripts, blog posts, and social posts on occasion. WBCP is an Executive Recruiting and Human Resources consultancy firm that has been operating since 2004, supporting public sector, private, and nonprofit clients in Oregon, California, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New York, Washington, and Washington D.C. Recruiting is the core of our business and involves working with clients, applicants, and a good deal of project-management work that moves quickly. WBCP has remote staff located in several states, with the majority of our team located at our beautiful new Headquarters Office in Rogue River, Oregon.

THE COMPANY HEADQUARTERS

While this position is a remote opportunity, the Copywriter may attend retreats and special events with their team at our headquarters in Rogue River, Oregon. Our new 7,000-sq-ft. office space is a historic 100-year-old brick building that we have completely renovated into a state-of-the-art office with modern amenities (such as an in-office kitchen and on-site daycare for our employees) all the while paying homage to the building’s history.

THE JOB

The Copywriter will write clear and concise copy for our clients’ Job Brochures, effectively communicating requirements of each position. In addition to writing Brochures, you will frequently communicate with other Copywriters and our Graphic Designer to assist in the brochure creation process, from editing to photo selection.

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing & Communications, you will also support additional writing projects to meet WBCP’s internal branding efforts. These may include writing blog posts, social media content, presentations, and conference materials. Staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies will be essential to enhancing your writing techniques and delivering innovative content.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE

Document Review: Scan and discern important details from client documents, pulling key pieces of information into brochures.

Note Taking: Attend client calls and take notes on critical details to include in the brochure.

Technical Writing: Follow WBCP’s brochure format, ensuring that vital aspects of each role are captured. Entice candidates to apply for jobs.

Project Management: Manage time effectively and appropriately; prioritize tasks from most to least essential.

Communication: Clearly communicate with staff, give progress reports on projects, and ask for help when needed.

Technology: Effectively use popular tools and programs such as Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, and Canva.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a talented and creative Copywriter with a passion for crafting engaging content. They will possess proven experience in a similar role, as evidenced by a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional writing skills, ideally with technical writing and/or public sector experience. They will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive team-based work environment where direct communication is valued. Attention to detail and strong proofreading abilities are crucial, along with excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling. The ideal candidate should be adept at conducting research to gather relevant information and possess the ability to understand complex topics. Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization is desired and proficiency in using various writing and editing tools, as well as content management systems, is expected. The candidate should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

SCHEDULE & EXPECTATIONS: The Copywriter must be available for Client Kickoff Meetings, which are generally scheduled between 8am and 5pm Pacific Time. On occasion, these meetings may fall outside of these working hours. After attending a Kickoff Meeting, brochures are expected to be written within 48 hours for review.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE: Proven experience as a Copywriter or Content Writer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing skills and creativity. Candidates will be expected to submit samples of technical writing for consideration.

BACKGROUND CHECK: Due to sensitive client information, the selected candidate must complete a satisfactory background investigation prior to hire.

Desired:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, journalism, creative writing, or a related field.

PUBLIC SECTOR EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in, or strong understanding of, Public Sector and government agencies.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT BACKGROUND: Proven experience managing multiple projects concurrently and prioritizing effectively.
