Status: Parttime, Monday through Friday, approximately 20-24 hours per week. Typical schedule is 8:30a-1p. Occasionally, additional hours may be required as early as 6a and/or as late as 3p. The position is required to work the second Saturday of every even month during food drives, from 8a-12:30p.
Job Summary: With a service heart, the Operations Assistant supports smooth running of daily operations, facility maintenance, and inventory management. Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Executive Director, the Operations Assistant works collaboratively with Volunteers to meet the needs of the organization’s daily demands.
Core Responsibilities:
Support opening and closing of operations
Set-up and breakdown of food needs for the day, including perishables and shelf stable products, following safe food handling practices
Remain available and responsive to calls for support from volunteers
Drive ACFB van for pick-ups and client deliveries in Ashland
Drive ACFB box truck in Ashland and Medford to pick-up, load and offload large palletized orders
Support cleanliness of premise, equipment and tools, including pest prevention practices
Remain available and responsive to client needs
Fill-in for the Operations Manager when needed
Inventory Management:
Follow practices for inventory slotting and rotation, and storage of perishables
Organize stock storage for ease of access, flow and understanding of inventory levels
Restocking inventory from walk-ins and warehouse when needed
Ensure all incoming and outgoing donation food is logged
Check inventory to ensure it meets ACFB dating guidelines, disposing of products outside of our date parameters in a way that reduces risk of cross contamination, reduces attraction of pests and prevents human consumption
Help ensure we receive purchased product as billed, and proper record-keeping for timely payment
Additional duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
Able to repeatedly lift 50 pounds
Able to be on you feet several hours a day
Forklift experience and skill, certification preferred
Pallet jack experience and skill, certification preferred
Able to function in high pace environment
Able to work in walk-in coolers and freezers
Able to multitask
Valid Driver’s license
Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred
