JOB DESCRIPTION:
Supports the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. Assists in the preparation of internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from various company departments.
Responsible for Gross Profit analysis: evaluating transactions for proper accounting treatment, monthly accrual cut-off, reviewing department gross margins and researching variances
Responsible for maintaining fixed asset ledger: Establish, coordinate and revise procedures to ensure the fixed asset accounts are accurate, calculate and record transactions of gains and losses from sales of fixed assets.
Assists in the coordination of various external audits.
Prepares journal entries; reconciles balance sheet accounts
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/SKILLS:
Four-year degree in Accounting preferred
Minimum four years’ experience in Accounting; retail preferred
Reporting skills, PC proficiency, Excel
Deadline-oriented, time management, team player
Attention to detail, productivity, organization, analysis
Effective oral and written communication skills
Likes problem solving

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
An employee may encounter certain work environment characteristics while performing the essential functions of this position however the majority of job duties will be performed in an office with controlled temperature and limited exposure to outside hazards.
