About Us:

The Rogue Valley Symphony has performed in Southern Oregon since 1967. Now with more than 70 players, performing concert series at three different venues: Ashland, Medford, and Grants Pass, the Rogue Valley Symphony continues its mission to bring live orchestra music to the communities in which we work.

About the Job:

The Patron Services Manager is the first point of contact patrons have with the Rogue Valley Symphony at the office, over the phone, via email, and at our mobile box offices at each of our performing venues. This position requires a tech-savvy individual who is comfortable with cold-calling, cash-handling, and becoming the subject matter expert on the symphony to our patrons.

Who You Are & What You'll Do:

The ideal candidate will have extensive background in customer service (preferably in the performing arts) and a passion for orchestral music.

The ideal candidate conquers a fast-paced environment, can solve problems thoroughly and quickly, possesses strong critical thinking skills and is self-motivated.

Travel to performing venues and attendance at concerts is required. A car is required. Specified weekends and evenings are required.

Provide exceptional customer service to patrons of varying backgrounds, ages, and cultures in-person, over the phone, and via email.

Collaborate with the Executive Director to set and achieve annual box office revenue via ticket and subscription sale goals.

Manage the CRM database AudienceView Professional together with the Development Associate to ensure patron information remains accurate and categorization stays up to date.

Build concerts, events, and packages in AudienceView Professional each season.

Fulfill ticket orders via website, phone call, order form, or in-person visit.

Collaborate with venues to consign tickets when necessary.

Provide monthly updates on ticket sales / goal progress to the Executive Director.

Maintain trust with patrons by providing an environment of information security, consistency, and privacy.

Coordinate, train and oversee volunteer usher teams for Ashland and Grants Pass venues, ensuring both are fully staffed for concerts.

Setup and manage the mobile Box Office and Will Call for each concert in Ashland and Grants Pass. Manage Will Call for each concert in Medford.

A genuine interest and enthusiasm for the mission of the Rogue Valley Symphony.

An understanding of the fundamental principles of the non-profit business model.

Experience specifically in the performing arts

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent technological skills should include, but are not limited to:

A good working knowledge of Windows operating system and programs Google Suite (including Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.)

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Must own or have access to a vehicle during the concert set weeks.

The successful candidate must agree and adhere to terms set in RVS employment handbook.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated commitment or belief in the mission of the Rogue Valley Symphony.

Bachelor’s Degree or work experience equivalent.

Box office experience PREFERRED

Minimum of 5 years successful experience in orchestra management, stage ops, venue management, non-profit administration, stage management or related activities, including excellent database and communication skills.

Flexible, outgoing, and friendly personality with the ability to meet new people easily and handle difficult and stressful situations with ease

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, etc) with experience in ticketing and donor management software a plus but not required.

Knowledge of recording technology and electronic media is a plus

Understanding of the fundamental principles of customer service

Working knowledge of basic computing environments (Windows, Google Suite, Office 365, Zoom, etc)

Working knowledge of orchestral repertoire and classical music

Oregon Drivers License

WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

Position is full time, 40 hours per week. Overtime will be required during concert weeks. Work schedule may adjust in relation to concert weekends and events, and is coordinated with the Executive Director. Starting salary is based on experience, beginning at $23/hour or more based on experience. Benefits for full-time staff currently include a health insurance stipend, sick leave, paid time off and an opportunity to participate in a Simple IRA retirement savings plan with matching contributions by RVS after 3 months probation.
