Job Description: Purchasing Clerk / Parts Department Clerk

Job Purpose: Purchasing Clerk is responsible for insuring that parts are available to fulfill the obligations made by the company to its customers. Supervision is not a responsibility of this position, however may be called upon to supervise other employees assigned to this department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain good relations with all vendors and suppliers

Answer general phone inquiries using a professional and courteous manner

Research alternative and or new sources of products to maintain competitive pricing

Reply to general information requests with accurate information

Works with Customer Service department & suppliers to fill order request in a timely manner

Oversees and maintains the inventory stocking and control program

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Good computer skills, with focus on programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel. Other software includes:

Fishbowl and Dealertrax to prepare reports, memos, and documents

Sort incoming faxes, emails and courier deliveries for distribution

Purchase, receive and stock parts for inventory always ensuring that basic supplies are always available

Code and file material according to established inventory control procedures

Oversee the shipping and receiving of materials, and merchandise to appropriate destinations

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of manufacturing and technology.

Experience and knowledge in purchasing materials, and a variety of industrial components needed for the assembly and installation of those products

Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts with vendors for pricing, and delivery always maintaining vendor relations.

Strong attention to detail

Strong organizational abilities.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Ability to lift 50 lbs

Education

High School Diploma, or Equivalent

Post-secondary education in business, computers, or office management preferred.

Knowledge, skills and abilities Proficiency in the use of computer programs such as:

Microsoft Word

Databases

Excel Spreadsheet

Fishbowl

E-mail

Internet
