Professional Gardener

$30 an hour DOE/DOQ
WBCP, Inc. (www.wbcpinc.com) seeks a skilled and motivated Gardener to maintain properties in the Southern Oregon region. This is a permanent employee position, with approximately 20 – 40 hours per week as needed (hours will vary up to full-time). The Gardener will oversee and landscape five properties including traditional gardening duties, blackberry abatement, planting, watering, and landscaping projects. The Gardener will make daily or weekly visits to sites to ensure general upkeep of watering systems, tend to lawns and shrubs, and maintain lawn care equipment. WBCP is seeking an experienced Gardener – possession of a landscaping certification, master gardener certificate, or comparable breadth of experience is highly desired. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable taking on light handyman duties as needed (hanging things on walls, moving furniture, etc.), receiving direction from both the Owner and the Property Manager. ABOUT THE COMPANY:Wendi Brown is the Founder of WBCP Inc. Executive Recruiting and owns five properties and counting: including one brick-and-mortar office building for WBCP’s headquarters in downtown Rogue River; two private residences in Central Point and Medford; and three vacation rentals in Rogue River and Gold Hill.
THE JOB/IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The duties of the Gardener will include the ongoing maintenance and beautification of all five properties. The Gardener will perform weekly checks of the watering systems, mow, weed and fertilize grass, trim and maintain shrubbery, and rake leaves and debris for a clean and vibrant appearance. They will do seasonal work including the pruning and trimming of branches in preparation for the winter season and the deadheading of flowers in the fall and winterizing the yards as needed. Basic lawn and garden tools will be provided.
Some serious and physical blackberry abatement will be necessary. One of the properties is located by a cliffside down to the Rogue River and will require a Gardener who is safety-minded and unfazed by heights to remove brambles for fire readiness. Safety gear will be provided during blackberry control.
Occasionally, the Gardener will get the opportunity to complete entire landscaping projects. Currently, two gravel yards require landscaping enhancement, and the successful candidate will haul away gravel and complete entire outdoor transformations. These two properties also have riverfront access but need improvements to the trail leading down to the water. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in landscape design, and who are excited by the opportunity to transform the spaces. Additional tools and equipment can be purchased/rented as needed to complete these projects.
The ideal candidate for Gardener will be a trustworthy and transparent partner in the beautification of the grounds. They will be a strategic thinker with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems without guidance or oversight.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Possession of a valid and appropriate Oregon Driver’s License and vehicle.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, bend, kneel, reach, and prune for extended periods of time.
3-5 years of experience gardening or landscaping.
Completion of a satisfactory background investigation prior to hire.

The Gardener will receive an hourly rate of $30, with a work benefits package that includes:
