The Behavioral Health Support Coordinator will fill a vacancy on the Cognitive & Behavioral Health Services team. A Behavioral Health Support Coordinator is in the process of becoming a fully qualified Behavior Professional. A Behavior Professional, known internally as a Behavioral Health Assessment Coordinator (BHAC), understands the inherent connection between engaging in problematic behavior and coexisting mental health conditions. The Behavior Professional will develop, educate, train, advocate, enforce, and demonstrate behavioral health service modalities that meet the person-centered needs of people supported.

Wage & Benefits: $23.08/hour (approx. $4,000/month).

Education & Experience Requirements:

2 years of experience providing Positive Behavioral Support, preferably within the I/DD community, AND be actively working on earning a qualifying Bachelor’s degree.

Degrees that Qualify: Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Education, Social Work, or other social or behavioral sciences or the equivalent as evidenced by providing transcripts indicating applicable coursework. (Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree)

BHSC will be expected to continue actively working towards becoming a fully qualified BHAC. If you meet the full education and experience requirements of the Behavioral Health Assessment Coordinator, you may be considered for that position after initial onboarding.

Position Type: Full-Time, 45+ hours weekly - Will vary and include nights, weekends, and travel as scheduled.

Skills and Qualifications:

-Must be at least 18 years of age when starting employment.

-Must have and show basic computer skills and can learn agency applications.

-Enhanced math skills – must be able to accurately balance a budget and basic math transactions.

-Professional, clear, and positive oral and written communication skills both expressive and receptive.

-Must be able to read, write, and speak English (reasonable accommodation may be made for some positions).

Job Duties:

-Demonstrate tangible support and effort toward community inclusion, person-centered planning approaches, and non-punishing living environments.

-Model at all times the appropriate way to support and communicate with the people we support, regardless of behavioral reactions by the person.

-Have a firm understanding of Positive Behavioral Support and Behavioral Theory.

-Managing a caseload where there will be the responsibility for creating and maintaining Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs). Including but not limited to:

-Must be responsible for keeping track of billable hours involving PBSPs and ensure the hours are submitted in a timely manner.

-Knowledgeable of and uphold Oregon Administrative Rules regarding behavior, safeguarding interventions or equipment, protective physical interventions, and Oregon Intervention Systems.

-Maintain a physical presence in the homes of all supported people on your caseload. Presence includes staff meetings, training specific, unannounced visits, and behavioral support observation time.

-Participate in PCL's New Employee Orientation as a trainer.

-Participate in an on-call rotation for their assigned area. On a regular rotation, this position is on-call for their assigned area for seven (7) consecutive days. The on-call schedule is posted eight (8) weeks in advance.

-Promote and implement PCL’s mission in the lives of those we support.

-Provide a stable living environment by respecting dignity, individual choice, input, and health and safety needs.

Physical Requirements:

-Must be able to lift and transfer 25 pounds minimum.

-Appropriately and efficiently responding to emergencies and/or crises (including but not limited to the use of physical intervention).

Certifications and Training:

-Must pass required DHS background check and Protective Service Investigations.

-This position requires a valid driver’s license.

-Complete and maintain all certifications as required by the position, PCL, and other governing agencies.

-Achieve and maintain certification as an OIS “Agency” Trainer and complete all accompanying responsibilities (training provided if hired).

-Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR (training provided if hired).

-Complete all duties related to being a Mandatory Abuse Reporter.

-New hire orientation and on-site training must be completed within 60 days of hire.
