We are looking for a full time assistant to well-known Indonesian Chef, and long time community member, who is also the owner of Blue Toba. It is an open kitchen with just one assistant to him. A dynamic energy requiring sharp multi tasking, pride in plating such beautiful alchemy that is his food and someone who has at least an intrigue in the level of artistry that goes into all of it. Willing to train just the right person.
Must be clear and quick minded, have a passion for food that is one of a kind to this area, has deep cultural roots and history. Multi-tasking with grace and precision is vital. We are a very busy kitchen. Working together with Chef must become like a seamless dance. Again, willing to train just the right person with just the right ingredients to grow with the job :) It is a wonderful opportunity!
This position can lead to being a sous Chef with time and training to our specific dynamic, class, food-as-beauty, culture and art feeling and presentation about it.
