Join a team of people passionate about a great guest experience, teamwork, and kindness at the beautiful Magnolia Hotel in charming Jacksonville.
Hours: Will vary.
A typical week would be 15-20 hrs with cleaning shifts of 8am-2pm (will include weekends) and hosting shifts of 2pm-8pm (as needed). Hours vary from Low Season to High Season and will mostly focus on housekeeping.
Pay: $20/hour
The Job: This individual will have an eye for detail, a warm engaging personality, a role-up your sleeves attitude for work and willingness to suggest improvements for consideration by the owners. Especially keeping in mind the overall guest experience, as it relates to making the Magnolia cozy, inviting, clean, and comfortable. This person will float between our housekeeping team (mostly) and guest services team (when needed) adding vital flexibility to the staff. While you will work mostly on your own (picture listening to Podcasts while you clean), we are looking for a team-player that also enjoys asking questions and making individuals feel seen and heard.
Your daily work may include the following (depending on whether you are cleaning that day or hosting):
1. Being available to guests to answer any questions, and get them successfully settled into their rooms.
2. Cleaning guest rooms after check-out.
3. Keeping common spaces clean, (no dishes left around, or pillows and blankets left untidy, magazines and books properly shelved and organized, etc.) so that each guest feels like they were the first to enter that space.
4. Keeping laundry continuously moving forward for housekeeping. This includes starting, changing, and folding daily laundry. Answer phones and attend to guest bookings, potential guest questions, and any other inquiries that come in through phone, email, and online portals.
5. Maintaining sensory protocols: Always have music (designated playlists) on at a low level, keep candles and/or diffusers going at all times, keep coffee and water station clean and full, keep retail fridge/pantry fully stocked, keep lighting at designated settings, keep surfaces clean, etc.
6. Responding to guests' desires, within pre-set parameters. e.g. If someone wants a copy of the Oregonian or a specific breakfast condiment make it happen!
7. Preparing the following day's breakfast. This may include stocking fridges, prepping food, etc.
8. Participate in designated staff meetings and one-on-one development meetings.
9. This team member will need to have or be open to getting their food handlers license & alcohol serving permit. We'll help you through the process & pay for the fees if you don't already have them.
If this sounds like a job for you, we'd love to hear from you! Please email Jeff your resume or bio, why you would be interested in working at the Magnolia, and send along any questions you might have. Looking to fill this role by early April.
