Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30-3:30 p.m. Excludes Tuesday and Thursday Holidays, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break during the contract window.
Job Description: The School Tutor will provide academic support and enrichment to students in various subjects. The tutor will work with students individually or in small groups to help them understand course material, improve study skills, and prepare for exams. This position requires strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic Support:
Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in subjects such as Math, Science, English, and Social Studies.
Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, and study strategies.
Develop and implement individualized learning plans to address each student's specific needs.
2. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
Assess students' academic strengths and weaknesses.
Track and report students' progress and performance to teachers, parents, and school administration.
Adjust tutoring strategies based on students' progress and feedback.
3. Resource Development:
Utilize educational materials and resources.
Stay current with curriculum changes and educational best practices.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure alignment of tutoring sessions with classroom instruction.
5. Student Engagement:
Foster a positive and motivating learning environment.
Encourage and build students' confidence and self-esteem in their academic abilities.
Qualifications:
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and curriculum. The employee may be required to complete and pass a mathematics competency exam to be offered the position.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for education.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Proficiency with educational technology and online tutoring platforms (if applicable).
Pay: $25/hour ($30/hour if you can pass an Algebra II or higher math proficiency exam).
