Summary: Pinehurst School District is looking for a highly qualified teacher to join us for a unique “one-room” rural schoolhouse teaching opportunity in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument! The head teacher will join our other support staff to deliver a rich academic curriculum while fostering team building and student leadership skills through project and place-based learning for a small number of students.
Job Description: This is a full-time position teaching a blended kindergarten through sixth grade program. The head teacher will be responsible for approximately eight to ten students in our rural public school.
Key Responsibilities:
● Instruction and Supervision: Serve as the primary source of instruction and support for students within the classroom and other assigned areas.
● Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual student instruction within and beyond Common Core guidelines.
● Collaboration: Work with the licensed administrator, instructional assistant(s), office manager, adjuncts, parents, volunteers and students to address instructional, behavioral, and classroom needs.
● Learning Environment: Provide daily structure and routines with clearly defined educational goals that foster academic achievement, cooperative relationships, leadership skills and engaged, life-long learners.
● Technology Utilization: Use classroom and school technology, including Titanium model Promethean ActivBoards, a full multimedia PA classroom system, a theater stage with performance-level equipment and lighting, laptops and tablets for all students, a 2-in-1 Dell Teacher laptop and additional accessories.
● Outdoor Classroom: Engage students in an outdoor classroom setting.
● Tailored Teaching: Customize teaching approaches based on the needs/talents of students and suitable for a mixed-grade rural school setting.
Qualifications:
● A minimum of 6 years teaching experience with prior experience teaching multigrade classes
● ELL endorsement preferred
● Licensed by the Oregon Teachers Standards and Practices Commission or hold a reciprocal state licensure.
Salary and Benefits:
Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience including:
● Salary range of $55,000 to $80,000
