Rogue Community College invites applications for Biology, Anatomy/Physiology & Microbiology Instructor (Adjunct Faculty)

General Statement of Responsibilities:

Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various Science (biology, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology) courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the science department of Rogue Community College.

Examples of Duties:

1. Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate during the day, evening, or weekend.

2. Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.

3. Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course.

4. Adapt learning procedures to the online/distance learning environment, including telecourse and web-based delivery, ensuring comparable quality of instruction, student-teacher interaction, and assessment with classroom-based courses.

5. May participate as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.

6. Communicate effectively with a wide variety of students and college staff.

7. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.

8. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.

9. Organize the learning experience for the maximum benefit of traditional and non-traditional learners.

10. Advise students on matters of program goals and course requirements.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Screening Criteria

A Master's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field is required. Experience teaching at a high school or college level is desirable but not required.

This is an adjunct faculty (part-time) position in the Science department. Compensation is based on the Rogue Community College 2019-20 Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule.
